Nature Trail

Photos by Marie Mosseri

The other day my friend and I decided to take advantage of the lovely weather and go for a nice stroll in the park. Of course, it's not a stroll in the park without taking a few photos, and by a few I mean a few hundred. I styled my outfit with a plaid Steven Alan shirt, Zara Skinny jeans, because if they aren't skinny they're not on me, Paul Smith kicks, classic Chanel aviator shades and topped of the look with a fedora I bought sometime last year during one of those Brooklyn flea markets. I use to be opposed fedora hats, as a matter in fact any hat, however during the last few months I've grown to appreciate them. Now quit reading this and go enjoy the beautiful weather!

Memorial Day Weekend

Happy Memorial Day weekend peeps. Is it me? Or did every online weather source have a different  weather forecast predicted for the weekend? Despite the surprise rain shower on Saturday, we had an overall solid weekend, full of sunshine. On what I wore, I chose to stick to the traditional red swim trunks aka short shorts and paired them with a lightweight plaid button down, slightly tucked for that extra special touch. I spent the holiday on my uncle's wave runner and topped it off with family and friends as we wined and dined the night away. So tell me, how did you spend your MDW? Comment below

Shades & Shoes

When it rains, it pours and when that happens there's nothing I want to do more than stay home, do some online shopping and of course, catch up on ABC's Revenge. While I was shopping online I stumbled upon a few pairs of summer kicks and shades for when the sun does decide to come out. This season is all about the playful colors, stripes and fun prints you wear. Opening Ceremony recently collaborated with Soludos (see second photo) and designed a unisex footwear collection. The eye-catching collab features a selection of espadrilles with super cool colors and stripes-- And get this they're all under $40. To snag a pair visit the Opening Ceremony site.

Starbucks Fix

Some have asked me "What inspires me to create, photograph and write my blog posts?" The answer to that is EVERYTHING. You see, I'm unable to give you a specific answer. That's the beauty of living in New York City, being surrounded by the most beautiful, different and strange that help influence my lifestyle. One place where I go for inspiration is Starbucks, specifically the one located on Spring & Crosby. It isn't overcrowded and is the perfect place to catch up on the latest from GQ Magazine. The other night Ellie of City Brewed, for all the ladies seeking an awesome female style blogger check her out (you'll thank me later), and I attended the opening of Camper's new store in SoHo, where we enjoyed great tunes, cocktails and of course, checked out some awesome kicks.

Williamsburg

Williamsburg is any blogger's dream playground. The neighborhood is flooded with different restaurants, vintage shops and my personal favorite, art that helps define the area. Last week I had a chance  to  visit the Williamsburg Flea for the first time in my life-- true New Yorker? I think not. It's one of the most incredible places on earth that offers top-notch vintage everything and awesome food, don't be fooled by my thin frame- I may be skinny, but I sure hell can eat. Ironically, my outfit is a great portrayal of the neighborhood with the different playful colors and meshes so well with the scenery. It's definitely my go to place to shoot!

Sweats on Sweats on Sweats

Sweatpants ARE the new work pants-- you've read it here first. Time to fold the jeans and pull out a pair of relaxed fit sweatpants to wear to work. Thanks to designers like Alexander Wang and Nicholas K for introducing to us a comfortable pant that is versatile, and can be worn to work or to a date with your couch to watch re-runs of That's 70's show, which is ironic since that's exactly what I'm doing right now-- talk about a rough life. Today, I present to you, courtesy of the horrid weather, an ensemble that yells "Let it rain!" I would suggest to play it simple and choose a solid or simple color sweatshirt along with a simple pair of sweat pants. Now, here's the fun part, be creative with the necessary wardrobe staples such as a scarf, shoes and an umbrella, this way, thanks to your accessories you won't feel as casual.

SoHo Blues

Happy Monday Folks! I'm still recovering from the food coma I was in after last night's Mother's Day BBQ. This past weekend I decided to do some Spring/Summer cleaning and go through the clothing, shoes and accessories that live in my closet. I've come to learn that I'm a HUGE fan of the many different shades of blue-- navy, royal blue and my personal favorite cobalt. The outfit above was inspired by, none other than, well the blues hanging in my closet. Also, I chose to adopt the latest Spring trend, shoes with colored soles-- which in my opinion are freaking awesome. I think we can all agree that the weather this weekend called for a pop of color. I really wanted this outfit to focus on my playful kicks, in addition to the striped detail on the pants, and therefore decided to tone down waist up with a soft casual white shirt and a lightweight grey blazer.

Recap: Instagram & More

Happy Friday all! Ending the week with a brief recap of instagram photos, FYI username: @TheMetroMan, and a few of my must have items of the moment, which quite frankly should be in my closet. First photo: Earlier this week I blogged a new outfit featuring M:Zero by Melissa, brought to you by the lousy weather we've been having. Second photo: Well I can explain this one-- What should have been a photo of my latest obsession, Sperry Topsider shoes with bright blue soles turned into a crotch shot, yikes.  Third photo: I recently visited CoSTUME NATIONAL's newest location in SoHo, which thanks to its spacious floor made it an even more enjoyable experience. While doing so, I came across  these high top sneakers, which should be a part of my shoe collection, among other amazing pieces. I urge you all to stop what you're doing now and take a trip downtown; 150 Greene Street-- you'll thank me later. Fourth photo: After a long week of heavy rain, Thursday's weather was super refreshing and had me craving for a new pair of sunnies, like these futuristic-looking MYKITA shades.

Don't forget to buy mother flowers this weekend! Happy Mother's day!

Happy Shirt

Shirt- Topman Jeans-Zara | Shoes- To Boot New York

I've been searching for a multicolor oxford shirt ALL season. I recently found this beauty on Topman.com, where I immediately purchased it and found myself waiting by my front door for the UPS man to deliver the package. I called this post "Happy Shirt" because the playful colors just make me smile, even when I'm not wearing the shirt, you can imagine how I feel when I actually wear it. The above shirt is no longer available at Topman, however I did manage to find a similar looking one by Gant.

It's Monday

Photos by Danielle Guizio

Man, I always look forward to Mondays, especially to planning out my entire week, introduced to new opportunities, new tasks and of course new adventures. As I mentioned in a previous post, I gifted myself a pair of M:Zero shoes specifically for the rainy weather. They are literally the perfect shoe that one needs during a rainy week like the one we have ahead of us--Oh have you checked the weather lately? Yup it's raining all week. With my unique waterproof lace up shoes by M:Zero by Melissa, I have absolutely no worries about ruining another pair of shoes. I styled these kicks with a white V-neck under a light colored denim shirt, khaki pants and topped it off with one of my all time favorite summer essentials; a casual hooded vest by Antony Morato.

M:ZERO

Looking for the perfect rain shoe? Look no further. The rain tends to have those who worry about ruining their shoes wearing their beat up old converse, completely ruining their good outfit. Well that's not the case when it comes to M:Zero. I'm sure you have all heard of Brazilian shoe designer Melissa, who is known for her unique jelly shoes and who has recently opened up a new shop in SoHo. A while back, Melissa introduced an interpretation of Melissa shoes for men. M:Zero, a lace up shoe that is well-suited for the rain that is specially designed in matte black plastic and has ridges to make the shoe look just like any other oxford. Plus, from personal experience, M:Zero shoe's are super comfortable and you won't have to worry about ruining them in the rain since they are waterproof. Stay tune to see how I style these bad boys.

M:Zero is available in a selection of colors

Hotel Manufacture

As I'm sure you all know by now, I'm a man that loves to layer. Layering is a great way for one to get creative and to prove that they might know a thing or two about fashion. It saddens me that the Summer is near and the need of layering will no longer be. However, fear not my fellow Metro Men, Hotel Manufacture a Parisian based brand that I was introduced several weeks ago offers the finest and most comfortable knits and tops that are essentially the most perfect for layering this Summer. The brand uses a soft lightweight fabric that makes it comfortable when wearing more than one garment in the heat. More importantly, Hotel Manufacture offers a selection of simple colors that make layering easy and helps compliment one's outfit.

You can snag some Hotel Manufacture goods from Traffic, an LA based online retailer.

The Break Down

...And the countdown to long summer-beach-bum-days begins! Happy May peeps! I'm definitely looking forward to the summer, pale white was so last month,  however I'd be lying if I said I won't miss layering and staying warm during these chilly days. What I love most about this outfit is it incorporates the different influences and expresses the different styles I'm all about. Some days I dress it up wearing my favorite Marc by Marc Jacobs blazer or a playful Gant button down with a lightweight cardigan, and other days I choose to dress it down with a funky tee, a pair of skinny jeans and some high top strapped sneakers. Many of you asked "what do I prefer?" Well, the answer to that my friends is I have no preference, I'm opened to trying new trends and creating different ensembles.

May Cravings

Monthly Cravings
There's nothing I love more than the first day of a new month. It gives me the opportunity to start fresh, set new goals and more importantly a new month calls for new cravings. Starting with, what I've been craving for quite some time now, the Simon Spurr Leather Sleeved Trench Coat. Second on my list is an essential for layering this month and that is the lightweight navy sleeved grey knit from Saturdays Surf NYC. Up next is a funky and anything, but ordinary pair of pink denim jeans by A.P.C.  Camouflage, a huge trend this season, has been seen everywhere and on everyone including my May Cravings list on these Stubbs & Wootton. Last, but certainly not least, remember I do have another 30 days to buff up this list, is this expertly crafted Billykirk Schoolboy Stachel, which by the way is made by hand in the Amish country.

Speaking of Simon Spurr-- the brand is hosting their bi-annual sample sale until 5/2 from 10am-6pm at 210 11th avenue, suite 903!

Also, TODAY is the last day to enter The Metro Man X MeUndies.com giveaway!
