Oscars Best Dressed List

Everyone, and by everyone I mean EVERYONE, is tuning in to what will be the most talked about event this year, The 84th Academy Awards. The Oscar Red Carpet never fails to deliver the great and the worst fashions, the gossip and unexpected surprises. Many are eager to find out who will take home the golden Oscar, while others are only watching to know who and what are the celebrities wearing? Favorite fashion moments  of the night includes The Help's Jessica Chastain wearing Alexander McQueen and Gwyneth Paltrow wearing Tom Ford. And here's something that everyone will be talking about tomorrow, The Dictator's Sasha Baron Cohen purposely spilled faux Kim Jong-il ashes all over Ryan Seacrests Burberry suit. Although Ryan didn't show it, he was upset fuming inside and ready to knock out the accent out of Sasha Baron Cohen, and I don't blame him. Here are my favorite picks of the night!

Gwyneth Paltrow wearing Tom Ford

Jessica Chastian wearing Alexander McQueen

Michelle Williams wearing Louis Vuitton

Cameron Diaz wearing Gucci

Sandra Bullock wearing Marchesa

Milla Jovovich wearing Elie Saab

Natalie Portman wearing Christian Dior

Penelope Cruz wearing Armani Privé

Warby Parker

I recently took a visit to the optometrist where I discovered I need, not one, but two pairs of glasses. While others would wail and be upset over getting glasses, like the fashion geek that I am, I looked at this as an opportunity and a great way to accessorize. I came across Warby Parker, a vintage inspired eye-wear brand that offers a selection of glasses, exceptional styles and various frames to fit any face shape. These frames are your classic-yet-modern look with a dash of sophistication and are priced at $95, which also includes the prescription lenses.

And check this out, if your super tight schedule prohibits you from visiting their showroom in SOHO, Warby Parker offers Home Try-On service. Meaning you can select up to 5 of your favorite styles to try on at the comfort of your home for FREE, how rad is that? What I admire most about this brand is their generosity and kindness; for every pair you buy they give a pair to a person in need.

Have any particular brand in mind that offers awesome frames? Please share below.

Craving for Shoes

If there is one fact you should know about me by now, that's my obsession with shoes! My long term goal is to have as much, if not more pairs of shoes than Sex and the City's Carrie Bradshaw, just give me a few years. Now that the weather is warming up and as you say the flowers begin to blossom I'd say it's that time of year to buy a few, and by a few I mean 20 pairs, of new shoes to add to your collection. For the spring I would recommend a low cut sneaker with a fun animal print or a pair of loafers with a pop of color, without wearing any socks of course. Also, make sure to add a pair of M:Zero by Melissa (first row, second shoe) to your list because you can wear them with almost any outfit and get this, they're waterproof! Perfect for any unexpected spring showers to come.

Farewell Fashion Week

As we bid farewell to New York Fashion Week I share my first experience, and most likely not my last, with all of you. The entire journey was exciting to say the least from beginning to end, from receiving invites weeks before to your favorite designer's show to being seated at venues like Lincoln Center and watching the magic come together And of course my personal favorite, the challenge of hailing a cab to be on time to your next show. Although the shows literally lasted for less than two minutes, I can assure you that those two minutes were the most exhilarating and thrilling moments I have ever experienced, better than any roller coaster I've been on. There were selections of music, models, styles that were truly memorable and then there were the not so epic moments including models stumbling on the runway and fashion fails. And not to disregard the freebies and gift bags that were offered, I mean who doesn't love free stuff? More importantly, during this learning experience I discovered I am an excellent cab hailer and next season I'm pulling out the big guns and investing in an entire wardrobe purposely for NYFW. See you all in the Fall!

NYFW: Malan Breton F/W 2012

Project Runway's Malan Breton debuts his latest collection during NYFW and has got me looking forward to the Fall more now than ever, and more importantly excited to wear an orange turtleneck sweater. You say Malan Breton, I say European invasion. There's something about Breton's collection that encourages me to move to Paris and become a passionate French artist (see photo 2). In his latest collection Malan continues to impress us with his signature shiny and lively colored suits and fitted three quarter length pants. Malan Breton is synonymous with classic-yet-modern menswear coupled with that European vibe and a splash of vibrant colors. In attendance were Real Housewives of Orange County Gretchen Rossi, and of New York Alex McCord and Simon Kempen. In addition, Allison Harvard, America's Next Top Model All Star runner up, closed the show wearing a strapless black elegant dress.

New York Fashion Week Update!

Here's a quick sum up of a few designers (and a few of my favorite looks) who showed their Fall 2012 collection during NYFW! I have to say we will be seeing a lot of olympian blue and tangerine this fall! Hey, I'm not complaining!

NYFW: Rag & Bone Fall 2012

Rag & Bone has done it again and this time with a bit more drama and edge. In their latest collection, Rag & Bone have Incorporated elements such as militant, darkness, the daily working man with a twist of urban romanticism into one creation. The colors, fabrics, details, materials, patterns and I can go on all day, just screams bad ass brilliant. I am obsessing over every piece from this collection, whether it's the leather-collared coats, blood colored shearling-collared topcoat, or the  herringbone blazer, I want it all. And is that a floral blazer I see?! It is indeed. Rag &  Bone has created a collection, which I praise them for, that will make layering easy for us metro men this fall.

NYFW: Nicholas K F/W 2012!

Officially kicked off New York Fashion Week with my first show of the season, Nicholas K! Both Nicholas and Christopher Kunz debuted an exceptional, and more importantly wearable Fall 2012 collection during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. Their inspiration was clear, the classic mid-western cowboy meets the NYC hipster. Nicholas K's collection consists of assorted jackets, lot's of leather, the not so ordinary sweatpants and fun accessories, such as suspenders and high waisted belts. As the show came to an end I came to the conclusion that I don't necessarily want a pair of Nichloas K's sweatpants. I NEED them.

Style Coalition: Fashion 2.0 Awards

Last night I had the opportunity to attend the 3rd annual Fashion 2.0 Awards presented by Style Coalition. It was a night where fashion brands, bloggers, stylist and designers all come together and celebrate the innovations of technology how they have influenced us, for the better of course. The award ceremony was conducted by host celebrity stylist, Robert Verdi, who if you ask me deserves an Oscar Award for his humor and delivery, and featured guest speaker designer, Norma Kamali. This year DKNY PR Girl wins big and if you aren't following her on twitter yet, well than you're probably not reading this blog.

Wang

Alexander Wang is one of my favorite designers to date. Although some might critique and question his expansion to the menswear industry, and I may agree that his men’s collection wasn’t his best, however as one of the most creative, inspirational and innovative designers the fashion industry has encountered, I am eager to see his next collection. This chunky black turtleneck sweater with leather elbow patches by Wang might be my favorite buy this winter. Every aspect of this sweater, from fit to fabric, is just simply perfect. What I admire most about Alexander Wang is his ability to make sweatpants look so damn good. So I decided to give the all-black-everything look a shot and styled this chunky sweater with a black nylon vest and black combat boots.

'Tis the Season to Wear Orange

Orange

Who would have ever thought in a million years that Orange would be the color of the year? Yeah, neither did I. Well, fortunately for you, I'm here to make sure you look some-what decent in the color orange. Orange chino pants are going to be seen everywhere, if they haven't been seen yet, so go grab a pair. Navy and orange just does it for me. Both colors compliment each other and when wearing them together it just feels, oh so right. Plus, according to the groundhog the spring is near and what better way to celebrate than adding a splash of color to your wardrobe. I encourage you metro men out there the next time you go shopping, if you're anything like me that would most likely be today, try something on with the color orange whether it be a pair of chinos, a bag or a sweater, you'll be amazed.
